Assistive Technology in Action – Meet Jared

The Family Center on Technology and Disability (FCTD) and PACER Center are pleased to announce the release of our new assistive technology awareness series, AT in Action. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), this fully-captioned video series is designed to strengthen awareness of AT devices that help individuals with disabilities participate fully in school, at home, and in the community. In this fourth video, you’ll meet Jared, a young man with cerebral palsy who, with the help of AT, is able to control his entire computer and run his graphic arts business through a sip and puff switch.. We invite you to view and share this video with your colleagues and the families you serve.

    Hello There,

My name is Noah Callan, I am CEO and founder of Disability Tek. Disability Tek is a sharing platform for people with disabilities to share and learn about technologies that may enable them to be more connected and empowered in their daily lives. Our ideology is ‘Help others with disabilities access technology by sharing how you use it’. If you would like to view the site please go to: http://www.disabilitytek.com. You might also like to check out this video: https://youtu.be/-_FJJamHH-Y

The website is live and I would love to get people with disabilities, their carers, therapists etc. to visit the site and check it out. I want to encourage people to post their User Set Ups under the ‘User Set Up’ tab so that we can all learn about what technologies people are using. It is an opportunity for us to work together as a community and share our wealth of knowledge in this area. The website also offers a forum and news component.

    Greatly appreciated,
    Noah Callan
